“Don’t stare at the steps: start to climb them.” Tom Burns
What is the creative activity that makes you hop up and down in excitement? For me it’s creating a big space to play with paint, paper, crayons, scissors and brushes.
This was one of the steps that I needed to take in order to start the visual journal material for a class that I am creating for you. I am going to create a class where you will be able to combine writing with art in a portable manner.
How to do stuff:
The very first step is setting the intention to do this (or what ever IT is for you). But what if you never take the second step, which is starting it? Then that is where the problems begin. Dreaming and scheming is fun but it doesn’t get you very far if that is all you do about it.
So what could be holding you back? Is it fear that what you want to do won’t come out the way you imagine it? This is a common fear if you are a perfectionist. You can see the end product in your mind but don’t know how to get there.
The good thing about steps:
Steps are not escalators. You do not go directly up in one nonstop trip. You set the pace. You can go up and then back down. You can change your mind and change direction.
What steps you need to take today? and what steps will you take today?
