Partial Collection of Art from 2016

This video is a partial collection of art that I made in 2016. This past year I participated in an online workshop called LifeBook 2016. Most of the art in the video is from that project. A few of the images in this collection are from workshops I was in at Art is You in Santa Rosa, CA. The rest are random pieces I made. LifeBook is wonderful. I learned so much and was introduced to many new teachers and their techniques. It requires a time commitment to watch the videos, to make the art, to upload the art and then participate in the facebook group. The great thing about LifeBook…

    Life Book 2016 Update

I’m still loving and making time for Life Book 2016. In my first post about Life Book 2016, I expressed the way I get projects done. I make it a priority. It has a place in my calendar. Of course, this means other things go by the wayside. We have to choose where we spend our energy. I used to sew everyday, or at least five days a week. I still love to sew but sewing doesn’t get my attention like it used to. Plus, I stopped making a living by being a seamstress. As you can see from my examples, the Life Book 2016 projects vary greatly week-to-week. One…

Adding a Prompt to an Art Journal

Adding a prompt to an art journal is one way to beat the dreaded blank page. The prompts can be answered in your journal on the very page that you create. The prompts can also be answered in another journal or notebook if you want to keep the response more private. I found that once you know where you are headed, it doesn’t take very much time to complete a page or at least get most of it done. The getting started part is what seems to hold up the process of working in an art journal. The journal that I am working in is one you could make with…

    Zentangle Inspired Art

One of my favorite subjects for my art journals is a woman’s face and zentangle® inspired art hair. As a certified zentangle teacher, I have an immense love of abstract patterns. You cannot make a mistake. You may think you made a mistake but chances are, you are the only one who can see it. Zentangle inspired art is a piece of artwork that doesn’t fall into the definition of a zentangle. A zentangle is created on a 3.5″ x 3.5″ tile (piece of paper). It’s created with ink and graphite. There are no rulers, erasers or stencils. It’s non-representational and there is no orientation. It is usually created in…

    Online Art Workshops

There are so many online art workshops that I thought I would create a list. The list is a combination of my own personal experience* with their online workshops and/or DVDs and the rest on the list come from students who are passing on their recommendations. The workshops vary in length from about an hour to a year. The online art workshops also vary in the amount of time that you have access. Personally, I prefer lifetime access (like mine), don’t you? Pam Carriker* (I have also have a review of her book: Mixed Media Portraits) LifeBook organised by Tam Laporte* Donna Downey Kelly Rae Roberts Juliette Crane 21 Secrets*…
