    Art Journal Page

A few weeks ago I showed how I prepare art journal pages with graphite and gesso HERE. With a few Derwent Inktense colored pencils and a water brush, I went over the background layer. The water from the brush doesn’t buckle the thin pages because of the previous gesso layer. I like how one of the eyes has a circle that surrounds it.

Stabilo Woody 3 in 1 Review

I recently purchased a set of 18 of the Stabilo Woody 3 in 1. I have the few Stabilo All Colored Marking Pencils  and love them but they don’t come in all the colors that the Woodies do. Honestly I don’t need anymore art supplies. But that doesn’t keep me from wanting or from buying new supplies. The Stabilo Woody 3 in 1 pencils are similar in use as the Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Artist Crayons. Both can be used dry as a crayon or you can activate them with water to spread the color around. The Stabilo Woody pencils are super creamy. The wood casing makes them sturdy so…

    Life Book 2016 Update

I’m still loving and making time for Life Book 2016. In my first post about Life Book 2016, I expressed the way I get projects done. I make it a priority. It has a place in my calendar. Of course, this means other things go by the wayside. We have to choose where we spend our energy. I used to sew everyday, or at least five days a week. I still love to sew but sewing doesn’t get my attention like it used to. Plus, I stopped making a living by being a seamstress. As you can see from my examples, the Life Book 2016 projects vary greatly week-to-week. One…

    Mini Canvas and MonoPrint Tutorial

Recently, I received a few random art supplies. Part of the supplies were these tiny mini canvas. They are 2”x2”. With some of my Gelli® printing plate mono prints from the workshop that I took with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer I traced around the canvas onto a section of the deli paper. With colored pencil I drew 2 portraits on the mono prints within my guidelines. When I was done, I cut out the portraits. I used Golden’s matte gel and a painting knife to spread the medium onto the canvas to act as a glue. The image was placed over the gel medium right side up and smoothed out. One of…
