Oops. I missed posting the month of May for the tree outside my window series. Here it is June already. We passed the summer equinox and the daylight hours are getting shorter again. Living in a portion of the Bay Area that is windy and often foggy in the summer I appreciate any sunshine that comes our way. The west wind that we get travels over the Pacific Ocean and brings clear skies and temperate weather. Tree Outside My Window Month Four
After three months without much difference, the tree outside my window has burst into spring! I wonder if I should have taken a photo every day in April. I’ll try to remember that for next year.
Tree Outside My Window Month Three
Each day as I look outside my window, I see this tree. It’s exciting to see that the leaves are starting to form. We had an exceptionally wet winter after several years of drought. I wonder how this will affect the tree. I wonder if this tree will have more growth than usual or will my perception be skewed because I’m so grateful to see the sun and feel it’s warmth again? I was hoping the tree outside my window would show some change from January to February. As I compare it to January, I don’t see much of a difference. The tree is still in resting mode.

I think that when the tree outside my window was planted, it wasn’t planted deep enough. Or maybe the soil underneath the roots is not porous enough to penetrate and support the growth of the trees. I don’t know. Whatever the reason, the trees on this portion of the street lean toward the parked cars. A couple months ago, the city removed one of the trees because it was leaning even further than the ones that remain. I read somewhere that when a large portion of roots appear on the surface of the soil, the tree is in trouble (unless it supposed to have aerial roots). I think the tree outside my…
